Community Development

Advancing Hoosiers’ Quality of Life and Place

Since taking office, Governor Holcomb has been on a mission to make Indiana the best place in the world to play, live, work, study, and stay.

There’s perhaps no better example of this than the Regional Economic Acceleration and Development Initiative (READI). Building on the successes of Indidana’s Regional Cities and 21st Century Talent Initiatives, READI was launched in 2021 and brings communities together to foster regional collaboration and the creation of regional development plans to improve quality of place, quality of life, and quality of opportunity.

With an initial $500 million investment, hundreds of projects and programs have been proposed across the state like community centers, parks, innovation centers, technology parks, housing, infrastructure, mixed-use developments, and more; over $9 billion has already been leveraged.

“In Indiana, there is no greater priority for us as leaders than to work together closely to improve Indiana’s standing as the best location to live, work and thrive.”
Governor Eric Holcomb
