Governor Holcomb’s Campaign Collects Required Statewide Signatures to Make 2020 Ballot

Significantly Exceeds Signature Requirement in Rapid Time, Shows Statewide Strength

INDIANAPOLIS – In rapid time, Governor Holcomb’s campaign has significantly surpassed the number of petition signatures required to earn him a place on the May 2020 Republican ballot.

“Today’s news is proof that this campaign is organized, mobilized and energized throughout our entire state,” said Kyle Hupfer, Eric Holcomb for Indiana campaign manager. “In what feels like record time, our statewide team – powered by our strong local Republican Party leaders, our field staff, county coordinators and volunteers – have collected more than enough signatures to get Governor Holcomb on the ballot next year. It’s a credit to the excellent relationships Governor Holcomb has built throughout Indiana that our grassroots network and campaign infrastructure is now up-and-running more than a year before next year’s election.”

While official records of when campaigns cross the required threshold aren’t kept, Hupfer commented that this was faster than other Indiana presidential, gubernatorial and senatorial campaigns in recent history.

To make a gubernatorial primary ballot in Indiana, candidates are required to collect 500 signatures from registered voters in each of Indiana’s nine congressional districts, for a total of at least 4,500 signatures across the state. These signatures must be turned into county Clerk of Circuit Courts across Indiana between January 8 and February 4, 2020, and the local clerks then must certify the signatures as valid.

Governor Holcomb will highlight this rapid pace of ballot petition signature collection and thank his team during his remarks tonight at the Team Holcomb Fall Dinner, which honors the country’s military and highlights three wounded combat veterans, Congressmen Jim Baird, Brian Mast and Dan Crenshaw.

This announcement comes as polling continues to show strong support for Governor Holcomb throughout Indiana. Internal polling shows Governor Holcomb with an impressive statewide approval rating at 61 percent.

Governor Holcomb’s campaign and the Indiana Republican Party both finished the 2017 and 2018 calendar years with record cash-on-hand balances, and both broke mid-year records with the most recent filing period that ended in June. Eric Holcomb for Indiana ended June with a record $6.01 million cash-on-hand. Combined, the campaign accounts of Governor Holcomb, Lt. Governor Suzanne Crouch and the Indiana Republican Party totaled $7.23 million cash-on-hand at the end of June.

“Just as Governor Holcomb is working hard every day to deliver results for Hoosiers and continue Putting People First, his campaign is working just as hard to make sure that this progress can continue for four more years,” said Hupfer.
